Happy New Year Everyone!

Now the turkey leftovers are finally finished, the presents have found homes and the resolutions are already a thing of the past, it's time to get down to business - making 2025 a great year!

2025!! A quarter of a century since Y2K and half a century since Bohemian Rhapsody became number 1 and the personal computer industry was launched!

Want some more facts? How about some quirky facts about Garnet, the birthstone for January?

Being the birthstone for January, Garnet is the ultimate New Year’s Party gem. It’s like nature saying, “Hey, start the year off strong and fabulous!" The glow stick of ancient times, travellers also believed Garnets could light up the dark.

Resembling the seeds, Garnet got it's name from the Latin for pomegranate, granatus, and in the Middle Ages, people believed it could cure depression and protect against poison. It would be worn after wild feasts, possibly as an ancient hangover cure?

Whilst warriors used go into battle emblazoned with sparkling garnets believing it made them invincible, folklore also tells of garnets which could ignite and explode with fire. Thankfully, that’s just a myth - no fireworks here.

Finally, in Victorian times, garnets were given as a symbol of fidelity and loyalty. So gifting a garnet was like saying, “You better not ghost me!”

If you would like you own bearer of light, protector or symbol of loyalty, head over to the Jewellery section or search 'Garnet'.

Happy shopping!
